Stories, Freedom, and a Life Well Lived

I have been a reader for as long as I can remember. As a child, I devoured books with an almost unstoppable curiosity, happily losing myself in both true stories and imaginary worlds. Autobiographies, real-life experiences, fiction—I never believed a good story needed to fit into just one category.

Eventually, I started creating stories of my own.

I began writing in 2012, more than a little later in life than most authors. Today, I’m over sixty, and I write in English—a language I taught myself. When I was young, English simply wasn’t part of our school curriculum. And yes, back then, even mathematics was still pleasantly straightforward.

My English may not always be perfect, but I have never believed that perfection is what makes a story worth reading. What matters to me is the story itself: the characters who stay with you, the worlds that pull you in, and the moments that make you turn just one more page.

My books reflect my curiosity because I don’t like being confined to a single genre. Sometimes I’m drawn toward paranormal fiction, where magic and the impossible feel perfectly natural. Other times, I prefer stories without anything supernatural at all. I write whatever captures my imagination and whatever story I feel connected to at that moment.

My husband and I also run our own small business, so independence has always been important to me. There is something wonderfully satisfying about being able to decide what to do, when to do it, and—most importantly—how to do it. Writing gives me that same freedom.

That is why I chose to become an independent writer.

I like following my own path, telling the stories I want to tell, and deciding where my imagination takes me. There are no rules saying I have to stay in one genre, write one particular way, or fit into someone else’s idea of what an author should be.

When I’m not writing, I enjoy traveling. During the summer, my husband and I spend weekends exploring the Netherlands, discovering places we haven’t seen before. And when winter arrives, we head south to Spain in search of warmth, sunshine, and a welcome change of scenery.

Beyond that, I prefer to keep my private life private.
